This Privacy Policy explains how Meatball ("Meatball," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when you use the Meatball mobile application, visit meatball.social, or contact us (collectively, the "Services").

SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS

  • Account and product data. We process account details, goals, schedules, onboarding answers, chat messages, images you attach, call transcripts, notification settings, and subscription status to provide the app.
  • Optional Google Calendar import. If you choose to connect Google Calendar, Meatball makes a user-initiated, read-only copy of supported upcoming events into your Meatball calendar. It is not continuous or two-way synchronization.
  • AI features. Text, images, live call audio, transcripts, and relevant account context may be processed by our AI and real-time communications providers to generate coaching, plans, summaries, and scheduling actions.
  • Analytics and diagnostics. We collect website and app usage, performance, crash, and diagnostic information. App session replay is configured to mask text inputs and images.
  • No GPS or SMS access. The current app does not request access to your precise device location or SMS messages. It does request access to the microphone for calls and, when you choose those features, the camera or photo library for chat images and notification permissions for reminders and calls.
  • Deletion. You may delete your account in the app. This removes the active Meatball account and user-owned records, subject to limited legal, security, backup, and service-provider retention described below. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription or delete events from Google Calendar.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

Account and sign-in information

The app offers sign-in with Apple and Google through an authentication provider. Depending on your provider and the choices you make there, we receive an account identifier, email address, name, and basic profile information. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.

Information you create or provide

We collect information you choose to provide through the Services, including:

  • goals, tasks, calendar entries, reminders, alarms, categories, notes, locations you type into an event, completion history, streaks, rewards, and related scheduling information;
  • onboarding answers, plans, coaching preferences, and other information you provide to personalize the Service;
  • chat messages, feedback, reports, and images you choose to take or select and attach to a chat; and
  • live coaching call audio while a call is in progress, text transcripts, summaries, call status, timestamps, and technical call identifiers.

The app streams live call audio for real-time processing. Meatball stores call transcripts and summaries, but the current Service is not configured to create a separate recording of the raw call audio.

Content you provide or import may reveal sensitive information, such as health, religious, political, relationship, or employment information. Meatball does not require those details. Please avoid providing sensitive information that is not needed for the feature you are using.

Device, notification, and permission information

We collect an app installation identifier, device name, platform, app and operating-system version, push-notification token, iOS VoIP token, notification preferences, token status, and delivery or call diagnostics. These details let us deliver reminders and incoming coaching calls and troubleshoot delivery failures.

The app requests microphone access for live calls. If you choose to attach an image in chat, it requests camera or photo-library access. If you choose to save Meatball as a contact, iOS presents a prefilled contact form; that flow is not designed to read or upload your address book. The current app does not request access to precise device location or SMS messages. We may infer an approximate region from an IP address, and we use your device time zone to display and schedule events correctly.

Subscription information

Purchases are processed through Apple's App Store and subscription status is managed by a subscription service provider. We receive information such as an app-user identifier, product and entitlement identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, renewal or billing status, transaction or event identifiers, and creator-code attribution. We do not receive or store your complete payment card number. Deleting Meatball does not cancel billing; subscriptions must be managed with Apple.

Information collected automatically

When you use the website or app, we and our service providers collect technical and usage information such as IP address, browser or device type, operating system, referring page, pages and app screens viewed, feature interactions, timestamps, app lifecycle events, performance data, network telemetry, and crash or error details. Diagnostic reports may be associated with a pseudonymous account identifier. We configure our crash-reporting tools not to send default personal information or request bodies.

2. OPTIONAL GOOGLE CALENDAR IMPORT

Google Calendar import is optional. When you start an import, Meatball requests the read-only https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar.events.readonly permission through the Google account linked to your Meatball account. This permission allows Meatball to read events from your primary Google Calendar. It does not allow Meatball to create, change, or delete events in Google Calendar.

Our authentication provider manages the linked Google account and OAuth token. Meatball does not receive your Google password; its application database stores the account and import identifiers described below.

For supported upcoming events, Meatball may receive and copy the Google event identifier, status, title, description, location, video-conference link, start and end date or time, time zone, recurrence rules, recurring-event and exception identifiers, and whether you declined the event. Meatball requests only your own attendee response, not the identities or responses of other attendees.

We use this information to create corresponding events in your Meatball calendar, preserve recurrence and exceptions where supported, avoid duplicate imports, and show import status. We store the copied event fields as ordinary Meatball events. We also store the connected Google account identifier, source calendar and event identifiers, import-run identifiers, counts, timestamps, and temporary continuation state needed to complete a multi-page import.

This is an import, not synchronization. An import is started by you. It copies new events from your primary calendar that start within the next 90 days and does not continuously monitor your calendar. Changes made later in Google Calendar do not update the Meatball copy, and changes made in Meatball do not update Google Calendar.

  • If you delete an imported event in Meatball: the Meatball copy is deleted; the original Google event is not changed. Meatball retains the source-event mapping so the same event is not copied again during a later import.
  • If you revoke Google access: Meatball can no longer run a future import unless you reconnect. Events already copied into Meatball and their import records remain until you delete them or delete your Meatball account.
  • If you delete your Meatball account: Meatball deletes the imported copies, import state, and source-event mappings from its active database. Your original Google Calendar events are not changed. You may separately revoke Meatball's access in your Google Account settings.

3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use personal information to:

  • create and secure accounts and keep account details current;
  • provide calendars, goals, reminders, alarms, notifications, live calls, chat, coaching, plans, summaries, rewards, and support;
  • process optional Google Calendar imports and prevent duplicate imports;
  • verify subscription access and manage creator-code attribution;
  • operate, secure, debug, monitor, and improve the Services and measure how features perform;
  • respond to requests, feedback, and reports; and
  • comply with law and enforce our agreements.

4. AI, CHAT, AND LIVE COACHING CALLS

Meatball uses AI to respond to chat messages, interpret attached images, generate plans and suggestions, summarize calls, and carry out scheduling actions you request. To provide this functionality, relevant prompts and context may include your message or transcript, attached images, name, time zone, goals, schedule, rewards, recent conversation history, and recent call summaries.

Chat and planning requests may be processed by third-party AI providers. Live coaching calls also use real-time communications and AI providers. During a call, audio is transmitted to these services so the AI can understand and respond. Meatball creates and stores text transcripts and may use recent transcripts or summaries as context in later coaching interactions.

When AI observability is enabled, an observability provider may receive AI traces containing prompts, outputs, transcripts, tool activity, model and token metrics, and pseudonymous account or session identifiers. We apply controls designed to limit exported content and remove credentials and binary audio or image data, although traces may include transcript text and other conversation context.

AI output may be inaccurate. Meatball does not use AI output to make legal or similarly significant decisions about you.

5. WHEN AND WITH WHOM WE SHARE INFORMATION

We disclose personal information only as needed to operate the Services, complete a request you make, protect the Services, comply with law, or complete a business transaction. We require service providers that process personal information for us to protect it under terms providing the same or equivalent protection described in this Policy and to process it only for the services they provide to us. Current service-provider categories and examples include:

  • Authentication: identity and sign-in providers, including Apple and Google.
  • Calendar connection: Google Calendar.
  • AI and communications: AI-processing and real-time communications providers.
  • Hosting and storage: cloud infrastructure, database, and object-storage providers.
  • Analytics and diagnostics: website analytics, product analytics, crash-reporting, and AI-observability providers.
  • Subscriptions and payments: Apple's App Store processes payment credentials, and a subscription-management provider supplies subscription and entitlement information.
  • Notifications: mobile-platform and push-notification providers.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets. We do not allow these providers to use Google Calendar data for purposes unrelated to providing or improving the user-facing feature, security, or legal compliance.

6. ANALYTICS AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

The website uses an analytics provider, which may use cookies or similar technologies to collect information about visits and interactions. You can limit cookies through your browser settings or use available provider opt-out tools.

The mobile app uses product-analytics services to collect app lifecycle events, screen views, selected feature interactions, touch interactions, and network telemetry. This data may be associated with your account identifier. Session replay is enabled, but the app is configured to mask all text inputs, images, and sandboxed views and not to capture application logs. Crash-reporting services collect crash, error, performance, and navigation diagnostics and may receive a pseudonymous account identifier. Server-side operational events may also be sent to analytics and diagnostic providers.

The Services do not currently use third-party advertising pixels or serve personalized advertisements. Browser "Do Not Track" signals are not a standardized control for the analytics described here; available browser, operating-system, and provider controls may be used instead.

Where a law requires a legal basis, we process information as needed to perform our contract with you and provide requested features; based on our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Services; with your consent, including for optional permissions and Google Calendar access; and as needed to comply with legal obligations or protect rights and safety. You may withdraw consent at any time, but this does not affect processing that already occurred or processing supported by another lawful basis.

8. RETENTION AND DELETION

We retain account information and user-created content while your account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Services. Different records may be kept for different periods based on operational need, legal obligations, dispute resolution, security, fraud prevention, and backup schedules. Analytics, diagnostic, transaction, and service-provider records may follow the provider's retention schedule or be retained where required by law.

You can delete individual Meatball calendar events in the app. Deleting an event imported from Google does not delete the original Google event, and its source mapping remains to prevent duplicate re-import. Revoking Google access stops future imports but does not delete previously imported Meatball events.

You can permanently delete your Meatball account in the app. Account deletion deletes the authentication account and removes user-owned records from Meatball's active database, including goals, schedules, imported events and import mappings, message records, transcripts, progress, and registered notification devices. When AI observability is enabled, it also starts a workflow to delete AI traces associated with the account from the applicable observability provider. The current account-deletion process removes chat-image references but does not automatically delete the underlying image objects from cloud object storage; contact us to request deletion of those objects. Deletion may not immediately remove information from backups, security logs, legal or transaction records, or independent records held by providers where they must retain them. Account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage that separately through Apple.

To request access, correction, or deletion, email tech@meatball.social. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

9. SECURITY

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These include authenticated access to account data, limited-scope Google Calendar access, short-lived signed links for chat images, and controls intended to keep credentials and request bodies out of diagnostic reports. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Meatball and its service providers operate in the United States and other countries. Your information may therefore be transferred to and processed in a country whose privacy laws differ from those where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate contractual or legal safeguards for those transfers.

11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 18, you may use the Services only with the permission of a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information in violation of this section, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

12. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a portable copy of personal information; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal our response to a request. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may be limited by applicable law.

You can turn notifications off in the app or device settings, revoke Google access through your Google Account, manage camera, photo, microphone, and notification permissions in your device settings, and delete your Meatball account in the app. Email tech@meatball.social for other requests.

13. UNITED STATES PRIVACY DISCLOSURES

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information, depending on the features used: identifiers; California customer-record information; commercial information; internet or other electronic-network activity; approximate geolocation inferred from IP address; audio, electronic, visual, and similar information; inferences generated by the Service; and sensitive personal information you choose to provide in messages, calls, images, goals, schedules, or imported calendar events. Professional, employment, or education information may also be collected if you voluntarily include it in that content. We do not use voice data to identify you and do not collect biometric templates.

We collect these categories from you, your device, Apple or Google when you sign in, Google Calendar when you request an import, and the service providers described above. We use and disclose them for the business and commercial purposes described in this Policy. We do not sell personal information for money, and the current Services do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Residents of California and certain other U.S. states may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, and to opt out of certain sales, sharing, targeted advertising, or profiling. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. To submit a request or use an authorized agent, email tech@meatball.social. We may ask for information to verify your identity or the agent's authority.

14. GOOGLE API LIMITED USE DISCLOSURE

Meatball's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Google Calendar data is used only to provide or improve the user-facing import feature, maintain security, or comply with applicable law. We do not use Google Calendar data for advertising, sell it, or allow humans to read it except with your affirmative agreement for a specific item, when necessary for security or abuse investigation, to comply with law, or when the data has been aggregated and anonymized for internal operations as permitted by Google's policy.

15. UPDATES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the Services, our practices, or the law. When we publish a revised policy, we will update the date at the top. If required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.
